NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – What harbors more harmful bacteria – dog fur or a human beard?

Researchers in Switzerland dived into the question and discovered that men’s beards harbor significantly more harmful bacteria than the fur of man’s best friend.

As part of the study, researchers examined the beards of 18 men and the neck fur of 30 dogs.

All of the men had high microbial counts, but only 23 of the dogs did.

Of the 18 men, seven of them had microbes that are a threat to human health, whereas none of the dogs did.

“On the basis of these findings, dogs can be considered as clean compared with bearded men,” professor Andreas Gutzeit, of Switzerland's Hirslanden Clinic, told the Daily Mail.
