LIDO BEACH, N.Y. (1010 WINS) – A college student reeled in a nearly 400-pound bull shark off the coast of Long Island last weekend.

TJ Minutillo, of Manhasset, caught the shark at Nickerson Beach on Saturday, according to the Southwest Dutchess Daily Voice.

Minutillo, who attends Clemson University in South Carolina, told the New York Post that he’s caught some 300 sharks in his life.

The catch comes the same week that a New York City woman was killed by a great white shark in Maine and as multiple Long Island beaches have closed amid shark sightings.

“I think it’s really cool to see them around,” Minutillo told the Post, adding that “it can raise a bit of concern when you end up with a situation like the woman in Maine.”
