Stormy Daniels Files Defamation Suit Against Trump Lawyer

March 27, 2018 - 8:10 am

WASHINGTON D.C. (1010 WINS) -- It's lawyer versus lawyer in the latest chapter of the Stormy Daniels saga.

Her lawyer is suing the president's lawyer Michael Cohen.

Daniels' lawyer Michael Avenatti accused Cohen of defamation for claiming that Daniels made up her story of an affair with Donald Trump 12 years ago.

As for the claim that somebody threatened to keep Daniels quiet? Avenatti confirmed it happened, but did not offer any proof.

"We're gonna get to the bottom of who this was and who sent them, and when and if, and I'm confident that day will come, if necessary if it leads to Mr. Cohen or Mr. Trump, we're gonna call him out on it," he said.

The president's lawyer has a lawyer, his name is David Schwartz.

"That's a complete lie, that's an utter fiction, and that in and of itself is defamatory, to say that that was Michael Cohen or someone sent by Michael Cohen. You know what the answer is? I know you're looking for the answer as to who sent that person, it's a figment of her imagination," Schwartz said.

Daniels told 60 Minutes that she had sex with Trump, spanked him with a magazine, and that he had compared her to his daughter Ivanka. She claims she was planning to sell her story in 2011, when she was threatened by a stranger outside of a fitness class.

The White House has denied Daniels' claim.

"The president strongly, clearly and has consistently denied these underlying claims," White House deputy press secretary Raj Shah said.

Trump alluded to 'fake news' in a tweet he sent Monday, but did not specifically mention Daniels or the allegations.
