NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- During his daily briefing on Tuesday, Gov. Cuomo reported 230 new deaths statewide as new hospitalizations continue to decline.

203 of those deaths were in hospitals and 27 in nursing homes, bringing the state’s death toll to 19,645.

Hospitalizations are around 8,600, "flat", overall hospitalizations, and intubations down, Cuomo explained. New hospitalizations are around 660.

"There's no doubt we're coming down the mountain," Cuomo said. "The only question is which trail we take."

The state will be working with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to convene experts and develop a blueprint to reimagine education in the new normal, Cuomo announced.

The governor also defended the need for additional funding from the federal government, saying that it is not a matter of being a blue or red state.

"Coronavirus does not kill republicans or democrats, it kills Americans," Cuomo said.
