NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Billy Dee Williams, best known for his iconic role as Lando Calrissian in the Star Wars films "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi," has come out as gender fluid.

Williams, 82, says he now sees himself as both masculine and feminine and is using both male and female gender pronouns.

"I say ‘himself’ and ‘herself,’ because I also see myself as feminine as well as masculine," he told Esquire. "I’m a very soft person. I’m not afraid to show that side of myself.”

“I never tried to be anything except myself,” Williams said. “I think of myself as a relatively colorful character who doesn’t take himself or herself too seriously.”

The actor reprises the Calrissian role in "The Rise of Skywalker," which is out Dec. 20.
