Speeding SUV fatally strikes woman, 40, then crashes into construction site

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A speeding car fatally struck a woman before crashing through a construction site in Downtown Brooklyn on Wednesday morning officials said.

Police say the woman struck by a black Ford Expedition before crashing into a scaffolding at Pearl and Willoughby Streets just before 9:30 a.m.

The collision broke the scaffolding and sent debris from the construction site flying through the air.

The victim was rushed to Brooklyn Hospital where she died.

The 81-year-old driver was also taken to Brooklyn Hospital. His condition remains unknown.
