NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A Bronx man is in critical condition after sources say he killed a young girl believed to be his daughter and her mother before apparently shooting himself.

The 10-year-old girl, Heaven Ross, and her 34-year-old mother, Linda Manigault, were killed at a home on Belmont Avenue, near East 181st Street, in the Belmont neighborhood, the sources said.

A man authorities believe to be the girl's father and the woman's husband was found holding a gun and apparently tried to kill himself after the shooting, according to sources.

Police said he was found with a gunshot wound to the head and was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical condition.

Police learned of the tragedy shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday, when they received a 911 call.

Neighbors were speechless, telling 1010 WINS's Carol D'Auria that the family was very polite and religious. They said they were known to go to church and that they've never heard of domestic disputes at the home.

"I never heard an argument with these two. I never -- and they have four kids," one neighbor said.

The girl apparently has three siblings -- a 13-year-old, a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old. They were uninjured.
