SOUND OFF: NYPD not responding to minor accidents on Staten Island

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- We got word this morning that the NYPD is launching a new pilot program for collisions on Staten Island; if the accident only results in property damage, you do not have to wait for police to respond.

After posting the story on Twitter and Facebook 1010 WINS listeners were quick to respond.

Many were not happy to hear the news, fearing it could lead to heated altercations and issues with insurance:


But some people didn't see the big deal. They said it takes a long time for officers to arrive anyway and that drivers could document the same things police do, possibly with car cameras:
