Snow will give way to rain, then mild and sunnier rest of week

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The worst of this bout of winter weather the New York City-area is experiencing is nearly over. But keep in mind, the National Weather Service's Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 a.m. Thursday.

The heaviest snow and sleet should fall through the early Wednesday night, and the precipitation should change to sleet and freezing rain, and then begin to change to rain around 9 p.m. Temperatures will slowly rise to 38 degrees late tonight.

Thursday morning will be breezy and quite mild, with clouds breaking for some sun. High of 56 degrees.

Thursday night will be partly cloudy with a low of 35 degrees.

Friday will also be mostly sunny, and cooler, with a high of 46.

Saturday will be pretty much the same, with mostly cloudy skies and a high of 44 degrees.

Grab an umbrella for Saturday night when rain is expected. Sunday will be milder with a high of 58 degrees.
