NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Six adults are accused of abusing a 3-year-old Newark boy.

Cops say the boy was regularly beaten and scalded.

The victim's mother Natacha Smith has been charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child, along with Patricia Gramarra, 62, Mary Buchan, 55, Patricia Buchan, 28, Bridget Buchan, 23, and Homer aka Omar Searcy, 39.

The suspects lived together in the same Newark home.

Prosecutors say they engaged in the systematic and coordinated beating of the child with a belt, and doused him with scalding water as a form of corporal punishment.

ABC7 reports the condition of the boy is not known. The suspects will be in court on Thursday.
