Shops around country celebrating National Donut Day

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) Donut shops and donut lovers across the city and the country are celebrating National Donut Day.

It started back in 1938 to honor the Salvation Army Donut Lassies, who served soldiers in World War 1.

Donut shops are offering all sorts of special promotions to celebrate.

Dunkin’ Donut is offering free donuts with purchase of a beverage, while Krispy Kreme are offering free donuts with no purchase required.
