Accused shoplifter punches NYPD officers in face at Home Depot in Chelsea: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man allegedly punched two NYPD officers in the face as they tried to arrest him for shoplifting at the Home Depot in Chelsea.

Ramos Wilberto, 46, slugged both officers at the Home Depot on 23rd Street around 10:15 a.m. Friday as they attempted to cuff him, police sources told the New York Post.

Wilberto, who may be homeless, was allegedly caught shoplifting and was being handed over by store security at the time he attacked the officers, the sources said.

The officers were taken to NYU Langone Hospital, where they were treated for cuts and bruises, while Wilberto was taken to Bellevue Hospital.

It’s unclear if he has been charged in the incident.
