Cynthia Nixon Receives Endorsement From Councilman Van Bramer

NEW YORK (1010WINS) -- "Sex and the City" star-turned-Gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon received a significant endorsement Thursday in her Democratic primary run against Gov. Andrew Cuomo: New York City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer.

The pair appeared beneath a 7 train stop in Sunnyside, Queens. Van Bramer says he chose the location because Nixon, 52, talks so much about the MTA, and he admires here for tackling the issue.

Van Bramer also tweeted a photo of the pair riding the 7 train, writing, "After announcing my support for @CynthiaNixon for Governor, of course we took the 7 train together."

"Thrilled to be endorsed by Councilman @JimmyVanBramer," Nixon tweeted Thursday morning. "He's been a fighter for LGBTQ equality for decades, an advocate for our subways, and a champion of the arts and our critical library system. We look forward to working with him to create a more equitable New York for us all."

Van Bramer and Nixon also share similar stances on Immigration and Customs Enforcement and LGBT issues; both are openly gay.

Nixon supporters hope her campaign gains some momentum from the unexpected primary win this past Tuesday of another political newcomer, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who defeated veteran Queens Congressman Joe Crowley. The two female candidates have endorsed each other.
