NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are looking for a jewelry thief who's hit the same apartment building several times in the Village.

Six homes in four months yielded the serial burglar $100,000 in jewelry, the crook struck three apartments in one building on 10th Avenue.

"Definitely a little unsettling, made me like more nervous about packages down here," Nicole said.

Police hope surveillance video will help find the perp. The suspect was confronted by a tenant in one instance, and during the last burglary the homeowner was home asleep.

The 10th Avenue building requires a code to get in but one man said he thinks he knows how the burglar got in.

"The young people, they have coming and going, they have food delivered all the time, and what happens is the door is constantly open," he said.

Police are looking for a black male, approximately 30-years-old, between 5'8" and 5'10", weighing 180-lbs. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, and a black baseball hat. The suspect has a tattoo with the letters RIP on his right hand.
