Security beefed-up, 2 more arrests in shooting at Brooklyn Target

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Security has been ramped up at a downtown Brooklyn Target store after six men armed with a machete chased another man into the store.

That man turned and shot one of them to death.

The alleged shooter, 44-year-old Bobby Jackson, of Brooklyn, is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and menacing. The man with the machete was also taken into custody and more arrests are expected, police said.

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams is concerned after an increase of shootings in the area -- especially with the holidays approaching, 1010 WINS' Samantha Liebman reported.

"One should not enter the Target store and become the target of a crime," Adams said.

Adams also said the NYPD needs to provide the precinct with extra manpower in time for the holidays, Liebman reported.

A patrol car now sits outside City Point Mall after the shooting.
