NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police on Sunday were searching for a suspect who attacked and beat an 81-year-old man in Midwood, Brooklyn last week.

Police have a very clear photo of the man they say beat up the victim at 7:37 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said the victim was followed into the building where he lives, at East 10th Street and Foster Avenue. The victim later told police through an interpreter that the assailant said something to him, but because the victim speaks only Punjabi, he did not understand.

That was when the man was attacked with a blunt object, police said.

As far as police could tell, nothing was stolen from the victim, and the attacker fled.

The victim’s injuries were relatively minor, police said.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS or (888) 57-PISTA for Spanish, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
