Search for driver who threw puppy from moving vehicle on LI, $3K reward offered

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- There is a $3,000 reward being offered by Suffolk County SPCA and the New York State Humane Association for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for throwing a puppy from a moving car on Long Island.

The SPCA said it received a call Wednesday from someone who said they witnessed someone throw an 8-week-old pit bull mix out of a dark SUV around 7 a.m. in Riverhead.

The dog was taken to an animal hospital in Riverhead.

According to the witness, the vehicle was driving east bound on Route 25, near Calverton Cemetery.

The first three letters on the license plate are TZR, officials report.

Officials ask anyone that recognizes this dog or have any information, to contact the Suffolk County SPCA at (631)372-7722 .
