Schumer Wants Czar To Oversee Reunification Of Families Separated At Border

June 25, 2018 - 7:44 am

WASHINGTON (1010 WINS) -- President Donald Trump is proposing that illegal immigrants caught near the border should just be sent back where they came from pretty much immediately.

"We cannot allow all of these people to invade our Country. When somebody comes in, we must immediately, with no Judges or Court Cases, bring them back from where they came. Our system is a mockery to good immigration policy and Law and Order. Most children come without parents," he said among other things on Twitter.

Those objecting say due process rights apply to non-citizens as well, although there is an existing policy that allows for the expedited deportation of illegal immigrants caught within 100 miles of the border.

In the meantime, Senator Chuck Schumer is calling for the appointment of a czar to oversee the reuniting of families separated at the border.

"We all know that when solutions involve different agencies, the problems don't get solved at all, or get solved all too slowly. So a czar would bring everybody together, would have the authority of the president and the White House, and would get the job done," he said.

There will be another attempt at votes this week on immigration legislation, GOP leaders couldn't find the votes they needed in the house last week.
