NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Rutgers University announced on Tuesday afternoon that it will be canceling upcoming classes and eventually move all courses to remote learning in response to the coronavirus.

From Tuesday through Mar. 22, all classes at Rutgers are canceled. Starting Mar. 23, all classes will be given remotely until at least Apr. 3.

Spring break at Rutgers is set for Mar. 14 through Mar. 22.

In a letter, Rutgers President Robert Barchi said that there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the university. He encouraged students living in the residence halls to leave and remain off campus until Apr. 3.

All events and in-person meetings with more than 15 people will be canceled through Apr. 15, and new non-essential events will not be scheduled.
