Roseanne Barr Issues Tearful Apology For Valerie Jarrett Tweet

June 24, 2018 - 2:51 pm

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/AP) -- Roseanne Barr issued a tearful apology this past week in a podcast interview.

Barr spoke with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, in which she reflected on her Jewish values.

She also said she never meant to say anything racist about Valerie Jarrett, a former adviser to President Barack Obama. ABC canceled Barr’s “Roseanne” revival after she issued a tweet likening Jarrett to a product of the Muslim Brotherhood and "Planet of the Apes."

Barr said she realized her tweet was racist and did hurt people.

“You know, it was so unclear and stupid. I’m very sorry. But I don’t think that. I never would do that,” Barr said. “I have loved-ones who are African-American.”

Barr said she did not even realize Jarrett was a black woman. She said she knows she made a huge mistake, and now she is ruined.

ABC just announced that it is doing a spinoff of “Roseanne,” without Barr.
