NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A new report says President Donald J. Trump personally pushed the Postmaster General to double the rate Amazon and other firms pay to ship packages.

The Washington Post cites three people familiar with the conversations who also said Postmaster General Megan Brennan has resisted Trump's demand.

Brennan reportedly explained in multiple conversations that the arrangements are bound by contract and must be reviewed by a regulatory commission.

She also told the president that the relationship with Amazon has been beneficial to the post office.
