It’s your party and you can cry if you want to, especially when you get insulted on your birthday cake!

A Missouri mother got quite the surprise after picking up her toddler’s birthday cake and found the bakery had mistakenly written “Happy Birthday Loser” on it, according to People.

It all started when Melin Jones stopped into a local Walmart to get the festive treat for her two-year-old daughter Elizabeth and asked an employee to personalize it with her little girl’s unusual nickname, Lizard.

Being in a rush, Jones didn’t even look over the cake until arriving home when she realized the not-so-nice typo.

“I was a little shocked, but after a few seconds, I couldn’t stop laughing,” the 27-year-old told People. “I had no clue they got it wrong. I was in a hurry and it seemed like a simple enough request.”

She later gave the cake to Elizabeth and snapped a photo showing the little one’s glum reaction and posted it on social media. After it started to go viral, Jones disclosed that her daughter cannot read, nor did they tell her what the cake said. Her amazing reaction was purely coincidental.

In an attempt to let people find humor in the incident, Jones added: “Even if we did tell her that the cake said loser, she doesn’t know what a loser is. So chill. Laugh, it’s funny.”

While Jones and her husband did wind up eating the ‘loser’ cake, they returned to the store and purchased another birthday cake for their daughter that simply said, “Happy Birthday Elizabeth.”

And as if the story couldn’t get any sweeter, Jones also revealed she never informed Walmart about the mix-up so as not to get the employee in trouble.

She even took responsibility for the entire fiasco by adding: “It was my fault for not checking it when it was handed to me and not the lady who heard me wrong.”
