NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Embattled rapper R. Kelly has been dropped by his label RCA Records, a division of Sony Music, according to multiple reports citing unnamed sources.

Neither reps for Sony nor RCA are officially commenting. R. Kelly's lawyer has also declined to comment, according to Rolling Stone

A source told Variety that the company wanted to "responsibly" take its time to come to the decision.

R. Kelly was removed from the RCA website, as of Friday morning.

The move to drop the rapper follows the release of the Lifetime documentary "Surviving R. Kelly," in which several women accuse him of sexual misconduct -- not anything new for the artist.

Protesters converged upon he Sony Building in Manhattan Wednesday to protest his inclusion on their roster.
