Queens woman charged in crash that critically injured NJ Port Authority officer

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A Queens woman was arrested on Wednesday after a Port Authority officer was struck and critically injured as he assisted at the scene of a prior accident in Jersey City.

Hudson County Prosecutor's Office arrested 27-year-old Amandeep Tiwana and charged her with assault by an automobile.

Authorities allege Tiwana, was speeding when she struck Officer Peter Siano, III, who remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition at Jersey City Medical Center.

Officials say Siano was setting up flares along the road on Tuesday at approximately 12:30 a.m. when the speeding vehicle struck him.

Tiwana also struck two other Jersey City Police officers at the scene also sustained minor injuries, officials said.

Authorities said Tiwana's vehicle also crashed into several Jersey City Police cars, which were all unoccupied at the time.
