NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A special education teacher at a Queens school was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly sexually abusing one of his autistic students, officials said.

Police arrested 48-year-old Marc Scheibel at around 11:30 a.m. at P.S. 213, The Carl Ullman School in the Oakland Gardens section.

He allegedly made one of his students, a 9-year-old girl with autism, sit beside him at his desk and place her hand on his crotch, authorities say.

Several other special education students were in the classroom at the time, officials allege.

Another employee at the school witnessed the incident and recorded it with a cell phone.

Police were called a short time later and the teacher was questioned and arrested.

Authorities charged Scheibel with sex abuse of a child under 17 and acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17.

"This alleged behavior is completely unacceptable and we immediately reassigned this teacher away from the classroom because of this deeply disturbing allegation," The Department of Education said in a statement. "He will not have any interaction with students."

Scheibel has been teaching for almost 20 years.
