NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A raging apartment fire killed a woman at a Queens apartment building early Saturday morning, authorities said.

The 35-year-old woman was found unconscious in an apartment at the Jamaica Houses in Jamaica after the fire broke out around 12:30 a.m.

“Upon arrival we located a fire on the second floor. The fire was quickly extinguished,” Deputy Fire Chief George Healy said. “At this time there was one victim.”

Citizen App video shows emergency responders racing to the three-story NYCHA building.

Healy said the fire was isolated to a single apartment. He said there was a very heavy smoke condition in the apartment.

The fire marshal will determine what killed the woman.

Her identity has been withheld pending the notification of her family.
