CHICAGO (1010 WINS) -- Police, nor most of the general public, may not believe "Empire" star Jussie Smollett's tale that he was attacked, but Queen Latifah says she isn't so quick to rush to judgement.

“Until somebody can show me some proof otherwise, I’m going with him,” she told Yahoo News.

She added, "Because the guy I’ve seen has always been someone who cares about people, who cares about others, whose very kind and whose always cool and sweet, that’s the guy I know. So until I can see some definitive proof, which I haven’t seen yet, then, you know, I gotta go with him.”

Smollett was charged with disorderly conduct. Chicago police say Smollett, who is black and gay, staged the attack then told police his attackers yelled racial and anti-gay slurs and referenced President Donald Trump's campaign slogan.

He was released after posting $10,000 cash. He was ordered to surrender his passport.
