MOSCOW (1010 WINS) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin played a video of a missile launch in his annual address to parliament on Thursday.

During his speech, Putin boasted about expansions to the nuclear weapons program, and Washington has taken notice.

Putin unveiled what he described as a new nuclear-powered cruise missile and said Russia has tested nuclear weapons that will render NATO's anti-missile shields completely useless.

"Russia still has the greatest nuclear potential in the world, but nobody listened to us," Putin said. "Listen now."

Putin told parliament that the military had developed a weapon capable of flying at several times the speed of sound.

"The speed will be hypersonic," he said.

The Russian president reiterated that they do not intend to attack anyone, and are maintaining a defensive military posture.
