Protesters target nail salon after employee attacks customer

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A brawl at a nail salon in Brooklyn has protesters demanding for the shop to be shut down.

Protestors first surrounded New Red Apple Nails on Nostrand Ave. in Prospect Lefferts Gardens on Sunday, chanting “Black Dollars Matter. Nearly 150 demonstrators also trapped employees inside another salon, Beautiful Red Apple Nails, prompting police to intervene and close the store.

Protesters were heard screaming “where is ICE?” and “no nails, no toes, these racist shops have got to go.”

The demonstrations came after video posted Friday showed Huiye Zheng, a 32-year-old employee, attacking 21-year-old customer Christina Thomas with a broom.

“We mean business and we’re gonna do what we need to. If we need to be out there every day until they close, then we’ll do just that,” said Rev. Kevin McCall of the National Action Network.

A witness who posted the now viral video on Facebook said the fight began because Thomas didn't want to pay for an eyebrow waxing that she was unhappy with.
