Pre-cut melon sold at Whole Foods and other stores recalled

April 13, 2019 - 11:42 am

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Caito Foods LLC is voluntarily recalling pre-cut melon sold in Kroger, Whole Foods and other stores in 9 states, the CDC and FDA announced Friday.

The recall extends to pre-cut watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe and mixed fruit plates featuring one of those melons due to a small possibility of salmonella contamination.

At least 93 people have gotten sick in the outbreak, which does not involve any local states, although some of the fruit was apparently sold on Amazon.

Almost two dozen people have ended up in the hospital but no one has died.

The FDA has a list of affected products here.
