NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A new Washington Post/ABC News poll has some good news for President Trump: the majority of Americans are against impeaching him after the release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia report.

The poll released Friday found that 37 percent of Americans are in favor of Congress launching impeachment proceedings against the president in the wake of Mueller’s report. That’s actually a dip from a month ago, according to the poll.

Meanwhile, 56 percent of Americans are against starting the process of impeachment, the survey found.

As far as political parties go, six in ten Democrats favor impeachment, while nine in ten Republicans and six in ten independents are against it.

The poll wasn’t all good news for the president. It also found that the majority of Americans believe he lied to the public during the Russia probe.

The poll says 58 percent of Americans believe Trump lied about matters under investigation by Mueller, while one in three Americans believe he told the truth.

Trump's approval rating is at 39 percent, while his disapproval rating is at 54 percent, according to the poll.
