NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police shot and wounded a man with a knife in lower Manhattan on Thursday morning.

The officers responded to a 911 call about a man with a knife at Third Avenue and East 10th Street in the East Village around 6:40 a.m., police said.

When they arrived, they confronted the man, and at least one officer fired.

Sources told 1010 WINS the officer who fired was a female officer.

Sources told the Daily News that the man had tried to stab officers while they were at a bodega.

The man who was shot was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

At least two officers were taken to a hospital for ringing in their ears.

The shooting comes hours after a man was shot and critically injured by police in Brooklyn.

The NYPD said that man had stabbed an officer in the neck with a knife and that two other officers were shot during the “unprovoked attack.”
