March 24, 2019 - 7:08 pm

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police shot a knife-wielding man with no pants on after he rammed into a police SUV and set his own vehicle on fire in Queens, the NYPD says.

Police told 1010 WINS that the man crashed his SUV into the police SUV outside the 111th Precinct, near Northern Boulevard and 215th Street in Bayside, at 3 p.m. Sunday.

After ramming the cop car, police say the man sprayed an accelerant on both vehicles and set his on fire.

The man was naked from the waist down when officers confronted him, according to police.

As officers approached him, he allegedly pulled a knife and charged at them.

That’s when two officers opened fire, hitting the suspect in the torso and leg.

He was taken to NewYork–Presbyterian/Queens in stable condition.

Two officers were taken to North Shore Manhasset Hospital for evaluation.

A 12-inch knife was recovered at the scene, police say.
