NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man crossing a street in Brooklyn was run over by a driver who fled the scene Sunday morning, and now police are looking for the person responsible.

The 47-year-old victim was crossing North Conduit Avenue, between Liberty and Crescent streets, in East New York around 3:30 a.m. when he was hit by a black Nissan Murano, police said.

The man was taken to Brookdale Hospital with severe head trauma.

Police said the Murano was last seen going westbound on North Conduit.

Faraz was working at a gas station nearby when he says he heard a loud sound that is still upsetting him.

He says North Conduit Avenue is a hazardous roadway.

“No doubt about it,” he said. “Very dangerous. Very dangerous.”
