NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are looking to question a Brooklyn man who checked into a psychiatric ward the same weekend his mother and father were stabbed at their home in Bushwick.

Oscar Rodriguez Jr. checked himself into Woodhull Hospital, police told 1010 WINS. He has not been charged with a crime.

His parents, Oscar and Maria Rodriguez, were both stabbed Saturday evening at their home near Garden and Noll streets.

A law enforcement source told the New York Post that 55-year-old Rodriguez Jr. went into a rage after his 87-year-old father questioned him about why he had returned home wearing no shoes.

The father was stabbed in the arm and chest and taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to police.

The 77-year-old mother was also stabbed and died from her injuries.

Shocked neighbors remembered Maria Rodriguez as a kind woman who would wave and feed birds.

One man told ABC 7: "I see her all the time sitting in the window, coming out with the walker. I'd hold the gate open for her. She was a good lady."
