ASBURY PARK, N.J. (1010 WINS) – Disturbing new details are emerging in the case of a New Jersey mother accused of killing her newborn baby and dumping the child’s remains.

The affidavit supporting first-degree murder charges against 18-year-old Jada McClain says she hid the pregnancy from her parents, gave birth over a toilet at her Neptune Township home and then suffocated the young boy with her bare hands by pushing on his chest.

The man believed to be the baby’s father, 19-year-old Quaimere Mohammed, then allegedly put the baby’s body in a dumpster at an apartment complex in Asbury Park.

NJ.com reports that Mohammed has not been charged with murder but is accused of desecrating the remains of the baby boy.

Police say that the couple discussed killing the baby days before the birth.

Mohammad told his girlfriend “they have to do what’s best for them,” according to the affidavit.

The affidavit says a friend of McClain’s notified police. Detectives eventually confronted her, and she and Mohammed were taken into custody Friday.
