Police: Man randomly punched autistic child on subway

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) An unidentified man punched an 8-year-old autistic boy on the subway Monday night, police say.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m. at the Fulton Street subway station.

As the train pulled into the station, the man walked up and punched the child, who was with his mother, in the back of the head, before fleeing.

No words were exchanged.

Witnesses told police the suspect was yelling and screaming as he got on the train.

The victim was treated and then released from NY Downtown Hospital.

The individual is described as a black male, 6’2”, 200lbs., with an injured right eye, and a salt and pepper beard and hair.

He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black knit cap, a red hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black boots.
