NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police discovered a 72-year-old man had jumped to his death Sunday night, right before finding his wife lying dead on a living room sofa with multiple stabs wounds in the Inwood section of Manhattan.

At approximately 10:18 p.m., police say they responded to a 911 call for a male jumper in front of 210 Sherman Avenue and found 72-year-old Campo Elias Albuja-Montalvo lying on the pavement, unconscious and unresponsive with injuries consistent from a fall.

Once officers gained entry to the apartment where the victim was believed to have jumped from, 78-year-old Francia Walsh was found then inside, on a sofa within the living room area, with several stab wounds about the torso.

EMS responded to the location and pronounced both individuals deceased at the scene.

A knife was recovered at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing.
