WATCH: Driver speeds off after hitting woman crossing Staten Island street

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD needs help tracking down the driver involved in a hit-and-run on Staten Island.

Authorities said the driver was heading northbound on Huguenot Avenue just after 8:45 p.m. last Wednesday when the vehicle struck a 55-year-old woman who was crossing the street.

Surveillance video shows the car knocking over the woman and then quickly reversing away from the scene.

The victim suffered bruising to her back and left leg and was taken to Staten Island University Hospital in serious by stable condition, according to police.

Investigators are now searching for the dark colored, four-door sedan.
