Police: Long Island driver intentionally ran down man

LINDENHURST, N.Y. (1010 WINS) – Suffolk County police have arrested a man who they say purposely ran down another man in a Long Island parking lot this weekend.

Police say 41-year-old Shatik Canady of West Babylon intentionally ran over and killed a man after a fight outside a Lindenhurst bar early Saturday morning.

The victim, identified as 28-year-old Kawon Williams of Wyandanch, was pronounced dead at Good Samaritan Hospital.

According to Newsday, the two men got into a fight just before 5 a.m. in the back parking lot of the Brewhaus Pub on Wellwood Avenue.

Canady allegedly ran over Williams and then fled. He was later arrested and charged with first-degree manslaughter.
