NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police have arrested a Queens man who they say pushed his landlord down a flight of stairs, killing him.

Alex Garces, 22, pushed Edgar Moncayo, 71, down the outdoor steps leading up to a home in North Corona on Sunday afternoon, according to police.

Graphic video captured by a Ring doorbell and released by the New York Post shows Moncayo at the front door of the home trying to collect read, his realtor said.

Some sort of confrontation unfolds at the front door. The Post reports that Moncayo called his wife and told her to contact police.

The Post reports that the last thing Moncayo’s wife heard him say was, “Let go, call the police!”

It was around that time that Garces pushed Moncayo down the flight of stairs, police said. He hit his head and landed on his back on the sidewalk about a half-dozen steps below, the video shows.

Garces is then seen walking down the steps and past Moncayo on the sidewalk. A man who was with Garces leans down towards Moncayo before giving a panicked gesture.

Moncayo died from his injuries at NYC Health & Hospitals/Elmhurst.

Garces was arrested and faces manslaughter charges.

Moncayo’s family told ABC7 that Garces was at least a month late on rent and that Moncayo was trying to get that at the time. The rent was reportedly only $200 a month.
