Police investigate bizarre road rage stabbing on LI
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Suffolk County police are investigating a stabbing that occurred during a road rage incident in Manorville on Thursday.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., officials a vehicle was reported driving erratically on Wading River Road.
Police say the vehicle was swerving in and out of lanes attempting to get around the other cars on the road.
At the South Street intersection, as the driver attempted to pass a vehicle and the driver of a second vehicle believed his car had been struck by the erratic driver’s vehicle.
The victim pulled into a parking lot on the corner of South Street and Wading River Road to inspect his vehicle, which police say had not been struck by the suspect’s vehicle.
The erratic driver also stopped and engaged the driver in a physical altercation and stabbed him in the stomach.
An ambulance transported the victim to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was treated for serious injuries.
The victim’s wife was also in the car with him, but was not injured.
The suspect fled the scene in his vehicle and has yet to be located.
