NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for a fake cop who is menacing residents in Queens.

The suspect went to a home near 34th Street and Broadway in Astoria last month, knocked on the door and identified himself as an officer, according to police, who said the man had a police shield around his neck.

When a 30-year-old man answered the door, the fake cop demanded he donate money to the 114th Precinct. The imposter then threatened the homeowner, saying he “better leave Queens” if he didn’t hand over money.

Instead, the victim called police, who are now looking for the creep with the help of surveillance images released Saturday.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
