Police arrest teacher accused of kicking 12-year-old student in the chest

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police arrested a teacher accused of assaulting a middle school student in Brooklyn on Tuesday. 

Officials said 57-year-old Roger Jassie was arrested at about 5:03 p.m., for kicking a 12-year-old student in the chest at School of The Future Junior High School located in East New York.

Sources tell 1010 WINS that the 12-year-old victim was kicked after preventing another student from entering the classroom.

According to the school's website, Jassie is a 7th grade math teacher. 

Police said the student complained of pain but did not suffer any major injuries.

Jassie was charged with assault and acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17 years old, police say.
