Police arrest man, 64, accused of fatally stabbing roommate, 23, in Queens

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police arrested the man accused of fatally stabbing his roommate at their Queens home last month.

After an investigation, 64-year-old Hopeton Prendergast, was taken into custody by authorities.  

Police said a fight between roommates ended with a man fatally stabbed in the basement of a Queens Village home.

Officials responded to an assault at a home on 220th Street and 103rd Avenue and discovered 23-year-old Duwayne Campbell, stabbed several times in the chest.

Campbell was taken to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Prendergast was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
