NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – There's light -- that's bright and warm -- at the end of tunnel, New York.

While the polar vortex that's kept a frigid hold on the city isn't quite over, relief is in sight -- just make it to Sunday.

Friday will be cold, but not as harsh as Thursday, with some early sunshine giving way to clouds. The high for Friday is 23 degrees.

South of the city and along the Jersey Shore, expect a bit of snow or flurries Friday afternoon

Friday night will be partly cloudy with a low of 18

On Saturday, the temperature will inch up a bit higher: Expect clouds and some sun and not as cold, with a high of 36 degrees.

Sunday will be milder with clouds and intervals of sun with a high -- get ready for this -- of 45 degrees.

Looking ahead at next week, expect it to be very mild with highs reaching the low to mid 50s Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, rain is possible with highs in the 40s.
