Greenpoint attempted rape suspect

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Cops are looking for a guy who tried to rape a 37-year-old woman at her apartment in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Police say that at around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, the female victim opened her door to an unknown male asking for “Jeffrey.”  Once the door was open, the male forced his way inside and claimed he had a knife.

The victim punched the male in the groin and attempted to flee the apartment located between Meeker Ave. and Kingsland Ave. but was tackled to the ground, according to a police report.

As the female screamed, she hit her head on the door and the attacker ran off. She was taken to Woodhull Hospital and was treated for her injuries.

Cops are searching for the man described as black, in his 20s, with a medium build and approximately 6-feet-2-inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, black short-sleeved shirt, beige pants and black shoes.
