NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- One person is dead after being fatally struck by a train at the Astor Place 6 train stop in the East Village Monday afternoon, causing delays on several train lines, the MTA said.

"Due to a person struck by a train, expect delays on 4, 5, 6 train service in both directions between Grand Central-42 St and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall in Manhattan," the MTA tweeted.

The MTA said third-rail power was removed because of the incident, which was a factor in delays.
