Penn. Cop Arrested In Shooting Death Of Black Teen

June 27, 2018 - 12:17 pm

EAST PITTSBURGH, PA. (1010WINS) -- The Pennsylvania police officer who shot an unarmed African-American teen was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with criminal homicide.

Officer Michael Rosfeld, 30, was charged in the June 19 shooting death of Antwon Rose, 17, according to court records.

Rosfeld, who is white, is expected to have a preliminary hearing on July 6. He has been on adminstrative leave since the shooting occurred.

Rose and another teen, who was arrested this week, fled after being pulled over on suspicion of their alleged involvement in a drive-by shooting.

Rose was shot three times.

An attorney for the teen's family says the arrest is a small stride toward achieving justice, but that many hurdles remain. It was immediately unclear if Rosfeld had an attorney.

Police will hold a press conference Wednesday afternoon about the arrest.
