NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Passengers headed to New York from the Dominican Republic were delayed on Sunday night after a reported medical emergency that some are calling a case of profiling.

JetBlue flight 410 was held at the terminal at JFK and quarantined while passengers were checked out, NBC4 reports.

“Some sort of medic type guy came on with a mask and a police man, probably Port Authority, with a mask looked at the kid and decided that it was probably mosquito bites,” one passenger said.

But the director of a Passover program who organized a trip for Orthodox families said JetBlue crews unfairly profiled the boy.

JetBlue said the Port Authority ordered the temporary quarantine out of an abundance of caution.

A measles outbreak that's been heavily concentrated in Brooklyn and Rockland County has fueled a near record year for the disease with cases reaching their highest point since 1994. As of Monday, there were over 700 cases reported in 22 states.
